So I'm going to start a Live Chat channel on Slack or Discord or some such, so let's discuss what's of interest to you:
Do we want to have a general channel open always, do scheduled Q&A, suggestions sessions, brainstorms, discussions of individual features, what? And do you have preferences on the app/system that we use?

That being said, I wouldn't have a problem with scheduled chat sessions as long as they weren't too too long and could take place in the evening..past 5 pm or so and maybe before 11 pm. Also, I think maybe a combination of these options might be a good idea because not everyone that might have some great input may be able to participate in the chats, but could view maybe a transcript later and respond, or just have a thread of some sort available as well for input, suggestions, and of course bug reporting. Have a separate thread for bugs, suggestions and creative ideas about individual features, criticism possibly. Maybe the scheduled live chats could even discuss some of these thread topics during such suggested brain storming type sessions. I am not very good at thinking of new things outta thin air, but when I see a system or feature or idea of some one's for example, sometimes I can really run with it add to it and see it from a different angle..or Ina different light. Anyways, I'm....long winded...
Oh, also, I am not familiar with "Hangouts," is this some sort of chat program or a site for blogging/forum type discussion? Thanks.
hope this helps,
Sid
I've never used Discord, but it does have an OSX, iOS, Windows, and Android versions, as well as a browser based version at https://discordapp.com/ so its definitely usable by pretty much everyone. Though I'm not sure how useful the voice chat feature would be, probably better to just limit it to standard chat.
For various reasons I'm not a fan of Slack, but it too is highly usable. IRC is of course always my favorite, but I know that one has ease of use issues.
Timing? I love an always open channel but right now the forums are a little low energy to support an always on channel, I think. I like the idea of schedule live brainstorm sessions, Q&A stuff, and all that stuff. I would personally suggest starting with a few scheduled things and then as the chat population builds up transition to an always on channel.
Any other services I should be considering, and any sessions any of you have been involved in that were particularly interesting?
I'll SMITE you
And, I do have a google account from back when I actually had an android device ( sadly I do not anymore =/ ),
so I would be just fine with taking the google hangouts route.
If you do have super rad chat meetings, could you post a summary to the forums? That way those of us who are time-zone challenged can still be involved (just not in real time).
I'll SMITE you
depend on the time zone....am at GMT +8
I'll SMITE you
I work with computers all day, so unless I'm in a meeting I can make pretty much anytime, though I may not be able to actually talk but every few minutes.

As we go into beta, we will also be creating specific Channels for Houses as well as forums here for Houses (@helpicantfly will almost certainly know all of the House names well before that).
