I think the swords and the helm are both too generic to fighting games. I would likely pass these by in the app store and look for something different. The face also doesn't grab my attention. The "P" piques my curiosity, and I am very likely to read the description of the game at that point. Thus, my vote is also the "P".
This is fascinating. As you may or may not read about, the common wisdom in the app world (particularly games) is to put a face on there-- show your character(s). Yet you guys are going the opposite direction.
That said, we'll be experimenting with more and I'll throw them up here for your opinions. There's so much tasty art coming out from @BIGDIRTYmitch & @Hardcake, it's a joke. You'll love it...

Oh I don't doubt it. But you actually have a bad pool to select for on that I feel.
Because the reason people like having a face or person on the app icon is because it gives them an idea of the art style, character design, and even time setting based on the gear they are wearing.
That's a lot of possible information from a face or character displayed on an icon.
But us here? We know all of that already, so we want an icon more aesthetically pleasing, while everyone else wants one that is informative to them.
They call me the Crier. No, I don't cry a lot. I deliver news you uncouth barbarian.
If you could somehow code the starting face icon so it is the icon for the player's primary hero, I believe you would get a very positive response for it. Baring that, there are many games that could use either of the last two icons, the first icon at least gives an idea of the name of the application.

I would sooooo love to be able to dynamically do this, but alas (great idea).
I agree with @Drysdale, while I find the swords and helm cool, you're right-- they could be many games. We'll be trying out some more iconic stuff from @BIGDIRTYmitch, who will also have more character concepts and such ready for you in an upcoming Game Dev Update I'm preparing.
I vote for the "P" as well. If I'm scrolling through an app store, and I see a helmet or a sword. My mind instantly says "oh look another generic game." Or like finji was saying the "P" feels more distinguished, like you know what you are offering and not just trying to appeal to mass amounts of people.
Wasn't The Continuum just something like this? "l l X l l"
It was-- we liked the whole "some realities crossed over" look of that simple symbol (which had the bonus of being able to be typed).
So I think maybe something like you guys are saying, but not necessarily a "P" per se. Maybe a symbol? Something mysterious and awesome? Powerful and magnetic? Heroic and regal?
I'll definitely get you all some more to react to-- those were super early, and much has changed since then-- and I like the suggestions-- you all have seen tons of imagery from us, so keep those coming!
Looking forward to seeing the new icons! With these four original ones, I'm on the opposite end of everyone. I actually like the face one the best. There really isn't much of a reasoning for me, I just simply like the way it looks.
