Want One? (visual progression in the game)

We haven't gone into this a ton, yet, but there will be a visual progression in the game for all equipment. Any item you get-- a sword, a shield, staff, shoulders, chest, whatever-- will progress in power (and you can upgrade it in the Forge).

Here's a 1st look at the progression for-- say-- a fiery flaming SWORD, from visual/power tier 1 all the way to 7. Please note the fire-resistant grip for comfort and cool handling...

Will those items (we can progress in power) be able to be as powerful as some that might appear during our journey killing amazing monsters? Really hope so, because with swords like that I will cry if I have to unequip it in order to equip another weapon that doesn't look that good and has like +1 to stats I need. :P
Good work, keep it up! Looking forward to see more weapons with other elements involved!

and you shall have them, @iNorganic! Many effects coming.

And to your question, yes-- you can Upgrade your swords or anything for that matter, along the way to make them useful as you go. That's all part of the Forge/Crafting...

Why does the sword change in shape? Does that represent the dmg or stat increase? I understand the increase in visuals like the flames just not the shape of the sword changing. It looks awesome though. So the swords grip will it have stats too? Sorry for late questions joined community late - kappa kappa.

no worries at all, @Donlive1234 -- actually, you're still in the sweet spot of early. Tons to do still before we get to the game's launch!

    To your questions:

[] The change in shape represents 7 visual tiers of power (that could include damage increases or any other stat that the sword effects-- this goes for armor and other gear too). Spoiler: there are actually 20 tiers of gear power leveling but the 7 visual tiers let us give players a nice visual to the power upgrades they get every several levels.

[] As far as the grip and hilt, that's just more of the same. This image represents a Rare sword that has the "Flaming" prefix on it. If, for example, the sword was Epic and was the "Flaming Sword of Destruction," then the blade will also have a symbol on it, denoting the type of effect that "of Destruction" imparts to it.

Make sense? We'll be sharing the whole gear system soon!
