I think I mentioned this before, but
Exiles has 7 visual tiers for each piece of loot. As a piece of equipment levels up, it not only increases in power and effect, but in visual visualiness as well. Take a look at the a couple of the swords that we're designing to get a feel.
(bonus item that I will explain in the next Dev Update: we've moved to handpainted textures on the equipment, because-- well-- they look more magickal)

Now we're messing around with lighting stuffs in-engine to see what looks best. Here's three different takes on it with the hand-painted textures:

#1 : too much shine/glare on the sword....resulting in "whiteout"in the upper right picture....
#2 : focus is just right on the invisible knight and Sword.....cleaner look
#3: too much detail in the background...bit overwhelming....
good stuff, @joeky, thank you. Agree #1 is getting too shiny. We're messing with the other two (but if anyone thinks the hardcore glare in #1 rocks, lemme know)
