The shape kind of reminds me of a tropical fish, so I am going to go with... Axe of Mer - This axe is typically used by the Merfolk. The Merfolk often grind the bone of poisonous fish to add to the iron during forging, both strengthening the iron and lacing these blades with a deadly mix of poisons.
What's better then making good beer? Drinking good beer!
The axe reminds me of a Ram putting it's head forward in an attack mode. The Latin for Ram is Aries, so therefore I shall call the tier 1 version "The axe of Aries"!
Of course, later versions can add prefixes and what not.

Helm crusher. The designs look like it would readily destroy a helm, but in a very vicious manner. Wouldnt be much point to wearing one if your opponent wielded this.
Looks like an Axe that can end any argument when running into an enemy!!! Hence i would call it "The Silencer". Would that be the transformation of the Axe being upgraded?
@Finjinimo Thats funny, "BUTT-AXE" and it could work @TheWizard looks like you have your hands full with the suggestions and a lot of them are good. Good Luck
Ah, young one. You wish to know my name? Well names are important things here, maybe you don't deserve to know my name yet.
First you might learn my story.
I started my time as a very nice and warm chunk of impure iron deep in the ground. Ah, what a glorious time that was. But alas, it was not to last. Pounding and smashing all around me, and I knew my time was coming.
Soon after, dirty grubby fingers pried me from my home. I was taken away, how far I do not know. But next I remember heat like you would not imagine. Flames enveloped the world around me. But I felt my impurities leave me as the heat transformed me.
I was drawn from the flames and beaten. Smashed, hammered, and... forged.
I began to know true shape. I was given a curved face. Very crude though it was. Many hours passed as my shape was formed.
Eventually I was adorned on the end of a silly piece of wood. What piece of Iron needs wood? But alas, the joining was wonderous and I knew greater use because of this.
My face was taken against a stone, and I felt myself gain strength. A sharp edge I now held.
I finally understood my purpose. I was to rip and tear, slash and cut, to rend and cleave.
To... Sunder.
Yes child, that was my name, and my name was also my purpose.
I was.... The Sundering
They call me the Crier. No, I don't cry a lot. I deliver news you uncouth barbarian.
It would be awesome if we could rename weapons, but keep the backstory of certain weapons. E.g

Dahmer's Deathwish
Dahmer was a simple wood elf, living in small cabin by the village of Crestmoor. That is until officials found him in the basement; impaled by the handle of the Deathwish...along with the severed heads of his family.
Inspired by:
Jeffrey Dahmer
Police couldn't quite believe their eyes when they finally cottoned on to what Jeffrey Dahmer was up to. Inside the man's pad they found severed heads in the fridge, a human torso in the freezer, and bags of organs stuffed further back in the ice. This was the grisly handiwork of one of America's most gruesome serial killers, who liked to kiss and chat to the chopped off heads of his victims while lovingly preserving their skeletons as trophies. Dahmer was eventually killed in prison. Not many people mourned.
